SAFL director Fotis Sotiropoulos has been invited to speak in the Fluid-Mediated Particle Transport program organized by the Kavli Institute of Theoretical Physics (KITP) at the University of California, Santa Barbara during the fall of 2013.

The focus of this KITP program is on the transport of particles by wind in air and gravity-driven flows in water. Physicists and experts on geological processes and morphology have been invited to come together at KITP to address challenging questions limiting the understanding of particle-fluid interactions and the modification of particle-particle interactions in the presence of a fluid.

Sotiropoulos will visit KITP during the week of September 30 and give a lecture titled, “Large-Eddy Simulation of Hydro-Morphodynamics: From Ripples in Scour Holes to Mega-Dunes in Large Rivers.” Learn more about the KITP Fluid-Mediated Particle Transport program.
